Ciao cari miei,
I’ve been thinking a lot about the Holy Ghost this week, and feel bad that I fail to give him the credit that he deserves. Without the Holy Ghost we can’t gain a testimony of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Without him we can’t receive direction for our lives and guidance from heaven. “The spirit of revelation is available to every person who receives by proper priesthood authority the saving ordinances of baptism by immersion for the remission of sins and the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost–and who is acting in faith to fulfil the priesthood injunction to “receive the Holy Ghost.” This blessing is not restricted to the presiding authorities of the Church; rather, it belongs to and should be operative in the life of every man, woman, and child who reaches the age of accountability and enters into sacred covenants. Sincere desire and worthiness invite the spirit of revelation into our lives.” I really love this talk by Elder Bednar, it talks about all the ways in which we can receive revelation through the spirit. It really is an incredible gift we receive after baptism, that is often overlooked, neglected, and forgotten. I really want all members to understand the way the spirit works in their lives as it’s such an indispensable gift, and tool that can guide not only our spiritual path but also all aspects of our lives. I really loved in conference how we were encouraged to make decisions based on how it will affect keeping our covenants. Thus decision making will always be objective rather than subjective, based on the ever changing circumstances of our lives.
I’m so grateful for the guidance I’ve received throughout my life and to be able to appreciate divine help. “The very “simpleness of the way” (1 Nephi 17:41) of receiving small and incremental spiritual impressions that over time and in totality constitute a desired answer or the direction we need may cause us to look “beyond the mark” (Jacob 4:14).” I love the building block concepts of the church, grace to grace, line upon line, etc., It’s the same with revelation, we always get to the bigger picture one step at a time because we learn through faith this way.
This week was fun, we got caught in a thunderstorm trying to find an ex-investigator. When we found her, she let us in and wants us to come back! She adores her family so we read the family proclamation with her and she also understands the importance of Jesus Christ and his Atonement. She gave us her umbrella so now we really have an excuse to go back! Things didn’t really work out with the family we found last week as they stood us up 3 times… We’ll try again soon! We went to the American member’s house yesterday after church and we had MEXICAN food!! Man I miss real tortillas… and I tried pineapple salsa and it was sooooo good! Then we took a stroll down to the beach by their house. Today we’re to Ortigia again, surprise surprise! Haha, love that island!
I hope all of you are well and happy! I love you, be safe!
